5 EVENTS WE CAN'T WAIT TO LOVE

CHARLESTON AFFAIRS, BLOWOUTS AND SOIREES

The first half of Charleston's 2018 events calendar has not disappointed. Every year come March, the spring season warms the weather and makes way for spectacular back-to-back events.

The Southeastern Wildlife Expo (SEWE), Charleston Wine + Food Festival and Charleston Fashion Week set a high standard of expectations on what we, as Charlestonians, should expect every weekend. The Cooper River Bridge Run and High Water Festival both follow shortly behind.

When the summer (tourist) season arrives, we feel it unacceptable and even slightly offensive large-scale festivals and events slow their pace for the sound of waves at the beach.

But worry not! The second half of 2018 has some of our favorite events, parties and get-togethers. Will we see you there?

5 EVENTS WE LOVE FOR YOU

1. IANDEPENDENCE DAY - JULY 7, 2018

Here's a fun fact about Ian, y'all. Did you know Ian was due on July 4th and was not born until 3 days later? Naturally, one must celebrate such a feat by throwing a blowout birthday celebration every year appropriately titled Iandependence Day.

The location changes each year, but you will always find plenty of red, white and blue. We're already planning this year's festivities and we don't think it will disappoint.

2. LLF GOOD BUSINESS SUMMIT - SEPTEMBER 20, 2018

We missed Lowcountry Local First's Good Business Summit last year and we will not be making the same mistake. The 6th Annual Good Business Summit is a one-day event spotlighting ideas and workable solutions for building a company with profit and purpose.

Feeling stuck in a rut? Looking for entrepreneurial inspiration? The Good Business Summit is your destination. We can't wait to connect and grow our business while surrounded by food, happy hours and other local great minds.

3. CHARLESTON PRIDE - SEPTEMBER 22, 2018

We celebrated pride in Houston and were not disappointed when we moved to Charleston. Why do we love pride (besides the obvious reasons)? Feeling the support throughout the community, especially when living in the south, makes our hearts warm.

This year's Charleston Pride Festival is going to be HUGE. Y'all. The one and only BETTY WHO is confirmed to perform at the festival this September! We have a few surprises we will be sharing with you, so stay tuned.

4. ANNUAL EVACUATION VACATION - SEPTEMBER-OCTOBER

Every year since we moved to Charleston in 2015, we have been "forced" to evacuate to avoid the dangers of a potential hurricane threat. When Hurricane Matthew approached our shore, we traveled to Asheville, North Carolina. Although it was not completely necessary to evacuate for Hurricane Irma, we booked a hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina and friends to see.

We believe in looking at all situations with a positive outlook, so adding the word "vacation" to the end of anything makes it seem not so stressful. Have y'all seen the 2018 hurricane forecast predictions for this year's season? We will save you the time from reading by asking, where should we vacation this year?

5. FRIENDSGIVING - NOVEMBER 22, 2018

Many of our friends and family in Texas are shocked when they discover how expensive it is to travel from Charleston to Texas. Flying home for every holiday is hard when on a budget, so we have adopted the tradition of Friendsgiving.

Whether we are cooking a full four-course meal for three people or tasting a restaurant's Thanksgiving menu, we are thankful to have friends by our side each time. We know it's months away, but who wants to join us this year?

What upcoming events are you excited for this year? Whether celebrated by many or made-up by us, celebrate with us ... because #ILoveThatForYou.
